The Sunshine Coast is located about an hour north of Brisbane in sunny Queensland, Australia. Stretching from Caloundra in the South to Cooloola in the North. It has an enviable amount of stunning waterways, surf beaches and hinterland that make it one of Australia's leading family holiday destinations.
You will find water activities to suit all ages from the smooth and shallow sandy beaches along the Maroochy and Noosa Rivers to some of Queensland's most scenic surf beaches. Bike paths and walkways are abundant along the coast for pleasant family exercise.
The coastal towns are a good base to visit the beautiful hinterland, you will discover exciting towns like Eumundi that hosts one of the world's most famous markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. You can visit many other country towns such as Montville, where the main street is a mix of cafe's and craft shops.
There are many great attractions for the family, Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo and Underwater World are both day trips from anywhere on the sunshine coast. There are many fine restaurants to choose from, some have kids activities. It is not suprising that the sunshine coast is a favourite destination for families.
The Sunshine Coast boasts a temperate climate with warm water most of the year. Typical water temperatures are 19°C in winter (66°F) to 25°C ( 77°F) in summer.
